Gastroscopy
Nothing is worse than an upset tummy, but it’s not always easy to know what’s causing your little one’s aches. In cases of gastrointestinal (GI) conditions, Dr Singh performs gastroscopy, a diagnostic tool to help understand the cause of your child’s stomach concerns.
In children, gastroscopy is used to diagnose various gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. This procedure examines the inside of the upper digestive tract, including the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).

Gastroscopy procedure
The gastroscopy procedure involves using a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light on the end called a gastroscope. Your child will receive medication to help them relax and anaesthesia to numb any discomfort.
Dr Singh performs the procedure by examining your child’s oesophagus using the gastroscope. This gives her a clear view of the GI tract to check for abnormalities. If she finds something abnormal, she may take a tissue biopsy or perform an interventional procedure to treat the concern.
Once complete, the gastroscope is removed, and your child will be closely monitored to ensure they are stable and healthy. They may have a sore throat or slight tummy ache after the procedure, but this will go away soon enough.
If the procedure reveals a more complex problem, Dr Singh will advise on what treatment and steps to take to help your child.
Benefits of gastroscopy
Gastroscopy is a versatile diagnostic tool that provides important information about the health of your child’s digestive system. If your child is experiencing tummy aches or issues, visit Dr Singh for a consultation to determine the cause and provide effective treatment.
